Robertson Taylor Fine Art Division representing;

Sunnylands Center and Gardens, Annenberg Foundation Trust, Rancho Mirage, CA

Robertson Taylor , Fine Art Division,  is honored to be chosen as the specialist Fine Art Collections insurance brokers for the  Annenberg Foundation Trust as they prepare  for the early 2012 opening of  the new Sunnylands Center and Gardens.  The new Center,  designed by Frederick Fisher and Partners, is adjacent to the 200-acre historical site called  Sunnylands in Rancho Mirage, California.  This famous former winter home of Ambassador Walter and Leonore Annenberg, hosted U.S. Presidents and other national and international political leaders including Queen Elizabeth II,  and other legendary figures from the worlds of entertainment, business, philanthropy and education.

Surrounded by a nine-acre garden, the new Center will offer exhibitions and audiovisual materials explaining the architectural history of the site, its art collections, its important visitors, the philanthropic legacy of the Annenbergs, and the ways in which all new work embraces an ethic of environmental sensitivity.

The original estate was designed by A. Quincy Jones, a pioneer of mid-century  modern architecture, and completed in 1966. The original Sunnylands 25,000-square-foot-house is surrounded by landscaped grounds that feature 11 stocked fishing lakes and a private nine-hole golf course designed by legendary Dick Wilson.

The inaugural exhibition of fine English silver-gilt objects from the Sunnylands Collection is installed in the visitor center.  Other works at the Center include Alberto Giacometti’s Bust of Diego on Stele III, 1958; Auguste Rodin’s L'Eternal du Printemps (Eternal Spring), 1884; and two Jean Arp bronzes, Simplicité Sinueuse, 1960 and Configuration – Souvenir d’Athenes (Souvenir of Athens) 1955. In a statement from Anne Rowe, Director of Collections and Exhibitions, “ The introduction of these works into a public space reflects the Annenbergs' desire to engage and educate the public utilizing their fine art collection.“

Robertson Taylor, Fine Art Division, works closely with the collections curator and administration of Sunnylands to develop and service  the fine art insurance program for this multi-faceted institution.
